Atlanta, GA - May 30, 2006 - Cool Off those Hot August Nights with Cocoa Bootcamp, August 21-25, 2006

In response to the overwhelming demand for additional Cocoa Bootcamps, the Big Nerd Ranch announced today the next offering of Cocoa Bootcamp with instructor Aaron Hillegass, August 21-25, 2006. The five-day class provides intensive training in the rigors of Cocoa development and is widely regarded as the most comprehensive course available for Cocoa developers.

The course syllabus includes a spectrum of topics, building from the fundamentals of programming with Objective-C and frameworks to advanced tools such as bindings, CoreData, OpenGL and more. Mr. Hillegass, author of the course textbook Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X, thrusts students immediately into coding their first application within the first few minutes of the start of class. At the end of the five days, students will be fully equipped with the necessary skills to write sophisticated applications for Mac OS X, demonstrate mastery in Interface Builder and XCode, have experience with the most common classes in the frameworks, and have a clear understanding of the design patterns used in Cocoa. The course is ideally suited for novice and advanced Cocoa programmers alike. No previous experience in Cocoa or programming for Macs is required, though the student should have some familiarity with Java or C++.

The August bootcamp will be traveling to a new host site for the class at the beautiful Serenbe Southern Country Inn, located just thirty minutes from the Atlanta airport. This charming bed and breakfast is situated on a converted farm with multiple guest cottages, an on-site barn, and hiking trails boasting trickling streams and a picturesque waterfall. Serenbe is perfectly in keeping with the Big Nerd Ranch's commitment to providing distraction-free instruction in peaceful, natural surroundings. As part of the Serenbe Community, it also shares the Big Nerd Ranch's ideal of fostering a community atmosphere and a sense of fraternity. For a virtual tour of the inn, visit www.serenbe.com/home.html.

"I'm really looking forward to teaching Cocoa Bootcamp at Serenbe," commented Aaron Hillegass, class instructor. "I had the pleasure of visiting the venue recently and was impressed not only by the excellent accommodations and professionalism of the staff, but by the idyllic environment of the farm itself. The tranquility of the inn lends itself perfectly to creating an atmosphere for learning, allowing outside distractions and concerns to dissipate so the student can be fully immersed in the process of learning. Moreover, the grounds themselves provide an excellent opportunity for respite and contemplation in-between class times."

Students with an interest in attending the Big Nerd Ranch's Cocoa Bootcamp should move quickly to book their seat in the August bootcamp. Cocoa has been selling out all year and the August class is expected to as well. Notably, the August Cocoa Bootcamp will be the first Cocoa class offered by the Big Nerd Ranch on the tails of the WWDC in California. Be one of the first students privy to the exciting advances anticipated to be released with the Leopard edition of Cocoa for OS X.
